Aude and Quillan
The area offers easy access to the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean Coast. Set in the heart of the Cathar country it is steeped in history and also offers numerous outdoor pursuits, including hiking, cycling, riding, canoeing, kayaking. For winter sports there are a number of ski resorts close by.
The local town of Quillan has a good range of shops, bars and restaurants. Carcassonne, with its World Heritage Site of the medieval "Cite" is only 50 minutes away. Ryanair has daily flights to three UK airports from Carcassonne. Perpignan and Toulouse airports are also within easy reach.
